Tim Southwell, the founder of GolfPunk and co-founder of loaded magazine, announced today that the new digital-only GolfPunk had been short-listed for the PPA Digital Entrepreneurs Network Newcomer of the Year.
The Professional Publishers Association (PPA) represents more than 200 companies, covering everything from consumer magazine publishers to business-to-business data and information providers and smaller independents. The PPA was established in 1913, and has therefore been representing the publishing industry for 100 years.
Southwell commented: “It’s great to be short-listed for a PPA Digital Award, as the PPA is the most respected body in the UK publishing industry, and their opinion carries a lot of weight. The PPA’s have always been the Oscars of the publishing world. This was the only category that we entered, as we wanted to test the waters as we are still developing the product. So to get short-listed at this early stage in our development represents another great step forwards.”
Southwell added: “We are quietly confident because we know that we have not only created a great magazine but a great platform that delivers a unique experience that can be enjoyed on any device with a browser. And we will have an App solution out with our new issue, which will add another dimension to what we are doing. This will also enable us to start accessing a global market.”
