American Golf (UK) Ltd has recently placed an order in excess of £240,000 for a whole range of turf care equipment from Textron. The machinery includes green, tees and fairway mowers from both the Ransomes and Jacobsen brands, together with turf maintenance equipment from Cushman and Ryan.

Included in the order are a further three Ransomes E-Plex II electric ride-on greens mowers. These will be deployed at The Hertfordshire, Addington Court and Sunbury golf clubs and brings the total of E-Plex’s in the American Golf fleet to five.

Laurence Pithie, director of maintenance at American Golf comments, “We have been very impressed with the E-Plex II machines. They are particularly suited to our courses that have residential properties close by. In order to fulfil the mowing requirements at this time of year we have to be on the course very early, due to the prolific grass growth. This is especially so at weekends when the courses are very busy, and these E-Plex’s allow us to prepare the greens and maintain the standards that our members demand.”

American Golf has also ordered 107 E-Z-GO golf cars to predominantly replace their fleet of existing vehicles, and also to increase the general availability throughout their 20 Clubs in the UK, including their latest acquisition, The Ridge Golf Club in Kent, acquired at the beginning of May. Two Refresher Cars have also been ordered for St. Mellion and Pyrford Traditions and will carry cold drinks and other refreshments to golfers at each complex.

Laurence Pithie continues, “We are now seeing the benefits of the national agreement that we have with Textron, which enables us to purchase a wide range of equipment and have access to a large, nationwide network of dealers who provide valued support and back up when required.”
