Royal Precision, makers of the Rifle shaft, have reported a revenue increase of 31 per cent to around £8 million for the six-month period up to the end of November, thanks largely to a huge boost in European sales.

The period showed a profit of £225,000 compared to a loss of £175,000 compared with the corresponding six months in 1998.

Royal Precision have now reported a profit for three successive quarters during what has been a challenging period for component manufacturers in general.

“To date, sales for the Rifle shaft are up 87 per cent for Taylor Made, 144 per cent for Titleist, 60 per cent for Callaway and 137 per cent for Ping,” said Tony Montgomery, vice-president of sales.

“In Japan and Australia, sales are up 71 and 88 per cent respectively, but the biggest success story has got to be Europe where the increase is 356 per cent.”
