BBC Sport has won a new long-term deal for exclusive live coverage of the Masters from Augusta.

Around 12 hours of live coverage – the maximum permitted for television anywhere in the world – will be carried on BBC2 from April 6-9 at the start of a three-year contract negotiated with the Augusta National Golf Club.

Mike Miller, BBC controller of television sport, said: “The club is renowned for long relationships and short contracts so this recognition of the BBC’s commitment to the best international golf action is especially welcome.”

The BBC has covered the prestigious Masters tournament since 1986, usually on a one-year contract in common with other major broadcasters around the world.

Former Ryder Cup player Ken Brown will make his BBC Sport debut at the Masters following his recent decision to move from BSkyB.
